Norman Lizt

With more than 30 years of investment experience, Norman Lizt is the founder and President of La Jolla Cove Investors, Inc. After graduating at the top of his class from Wharton and Berkeley (MBA in finance), he went on to hold numerous positions on Wall Street, as an analyst for Value Line, Wertheim, and Lehman Brothers. He also was a Portfolio Manager for the #1 ranked Oppenheimer Fund. Norman has been the President of a commercial real estate brokerage firm and the Senior Partner of a private investment partnership.

Travis has overseen the day-to-day operations of La Jolla Cove since January of 2000 and has over 15 years of financial experience.

Travis is focused on building successful relationships while assisting our portfolio companies achieve their goals. He provides sound advice and strategy, helping businesses make tough choices. Travis has a degree in Economics from Michigan State University and is a member of the Australian American Chamber of Commerce.

Outside of work, Travis actively cycles and runs with his wife. He is also involved in environmental conservation, particularly the preservation of Sonoma County’s watershed.

Over the last decade, Rob has put together more than $100 million in financing transactions for La Jolla Cove Investors. He acts as liaison to La Jolla Cove’s portfolio companies, helping create solutions that address their capital needs.

During his career, Rob has held numerous positions including: Officer at Mitsubishi Trust U.S.A.’s Securities Lending Division, Equity Analyst at a long-short venture capital hedge fund, and Portfolio Manager of LJCI’s Distressed Debt Fund. Rob earned his B.S.B.A degree from the Boston University School of Management.

When not working, Rob is an avid cyclist who enjoys taking advantage of the excellent cycling the Bay Area offers. He has also participates in numerous charity rides and has helped raise money for multiple causes.


Malcolm Thompson

Malcolm assists in identifying and evaluating potential investments and leads La Jolla Cove Investors’ strategic advisory efforts. He works directly with LJCI’s portfolio companies, helping craft, refine, and implement their growth initiatives.

Malcolm came to La Jolla Cove Investors from the San Francisco office of Harris Williams & Co., a middle market investment bank. While there, he worked on numerous advisory assignments across a wide range of industries including consumer products, energy and power, professional services, and logistics. Over the course of these transactions, which represented over $350 million in aggregate value, Malcolm spent a great deal of time working closely with management teams to optimize their businesses for sales processes. Prior to pursuing a career in finance, Malcolm served for nine years in the Army as an Infantry and Special Forces officer. Malcolm earned an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and a B.S. in Engineering Physics from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

In his spare time, Malcolm enjoys travel, weight lifting, skiing and reading - particularly about history. He currently lives in San Francisco with his fiancé.

Michael is responsible for the operational aspects of LJCI’s portfolio. His technical skills and financial acumen help facilitate successful partnerships with LJCI’s portfolio companies. Michael also helps identify and evaluate potential investments.

Prior to joining La Jolla Cove Investors, Michael worked at Fisher Investments where he held numerous positions within their Investment Operations and Research departments. His main responsibilities were company and market due diligence. Michael earned a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Oregon.

Michael lives in San Francisco. During his spare time, he enjoys participating in outdoor sports and activities, playing music or reading.
